Celebrating a new month with the “Anticipatingly Turning Over Of The Last Month And With Great Arousal Revealing The New Month” ritual blood-letting and celebration.
Oops. I lied. I do have another wall calendar … the “perpetual” wooden one from Germany … my favorite one! It requires physically moving the day of the week and the date (and the month 12x a year), which I do every morning while saying “Today is …, the _th of _” in German, just to keep at least that one little part of my Sprache fresh. Not exactly blood-letting, but a treasured ritual nonetheless.
I’m not too worried about date-ignorance, because I also have a tear-off page-a-day calendar on my desk (it’s important to start each day with a laugh), a booklet style calendar I use for scheduling dance events, a small planner-calendar I keep in my bag, and of course my computer’s iCal and ever-present date/time on the monitor.

HA! That’s exactly how I feel, too.
But, since I only have 2 wall calendars, it doesn’t take a big chunk out of my day.

I could never be with so few calendars any more. I would feel vulnerable to date-ignorance. Plus the Hot Pirate Babes always help my mood.
