Finished off my day by visiting the San Diego Zoo‘s Nighttime Zoo China Celebration and going to see Nicky, the pregnant giraffe who is ready to deliver any day now ( I swear I saw her pushing), and then meeting up with the entire Holden family. Walked through the newly opened Panda Trek with a Red Panda, Takins and of course, Giant Pandas, had dinner at Canyon Café and watched a few entertainment acts including Chinese jugglers, some dancing and the Steam Powered Giraffe music group who I personally think are very good. It was yet another really good Zoo visit for me.

It’s weird that I still haven’t seen SPG perform live yet, because I feel like I know them pretty well. David (The Spine) sometimes comes to our dance classes on Fridays, as well as other vintage dance events, with his girlfriend Brianna. Brianna’s mom happens to be the treasurer of Waltz & Such and a good friend of ours, so we occasional run into these guys (sans makeup) otherwise, too. They often perform on Fridays evenings, alas, or Saturdays when we have a Táncház … but hopefully soon I’ll make it to one their live gigs. I really do like their music; much of it is very danceable. Oh, and they really are very nice people.

Let me know if you want to go see them performing at the Zoo since I can get you in for free. They only play I think four songs, though. I’ve added their album to my Wish List on iTunes.
