My high school buddy, Ron, came in for his second of six San Diego visits this month. I went down to the airport to capture his plane coming in, which with how much I had to walk and that he was a few minutes early, I made just in time. He was the captain and pilot of the American Airlines 737. I had parked by the County Administration building and, once Ron’s plane landed, I walked along the bay for a while acting touristy until I heard from him. I meandered passed the Maritime Museum with its USS Dolphin submarine and Star of India tall ship. Walked as far as the cruise ship terminal where the gigantic Celebrity Infinity was temporarily berthed.
Later I picked Ron up and we headed for Old Town to walk around, checking out the shops before meeting up with our other arriving classmate, Barbara, for dinner at Miguel’s Cocina. It was my first time at this place and I definitely will be going back. Not my favorite place in Old Town for tacos, but the ambience was friendly, the company was great, and my chili relleno and shredded beef taco were very good. And they serve their famous white jalapeño sauce with chips.
