Pizza, Cookies And Hugo

Had an intimate chat-with-lunch gathering at the Tapias with both Rodrigo and Sylvia, as well as with Randy who braved the drive down from Orange County just to hang out with us. Our gathering began with picking up a deliciously large combo pizza from the newly remodeled outdoor food area of a local Costco and …

All Alone In The Night

I never get tired of watching these videos. Wonderful selection for the music. Very well put together.

One Guitar, Ten Hands

Pretty impressive cover of Gotye’s “Somebody That I Used To Know” by Walk Off The Earth.

Rolled Tacos, Rain, A New Living Room and Pirates

So the second half of my day went like this: got picked up by my friends Sylvia, Lilo and Stitch and we drove to Colima’s (where we were blocked and cruelly tempted by a gigantic Entenmann’s truck) to exchange US currency for some always-great Mexican food which we quickly and efficiently devoured at her house with …

McCartney Live

Watched a terrific concert by Paul McCartney streamed live on iTunes to promote his new album, Kisses on the Bottom. It was broadcast in black and white from the Capitol Studios in Hollywood. All the songs were older pieces except for two that he wrote for this album. They were all lounge-style classics including Ac-Cent-Tchu-Ate the Positive, …

Not A Very Super Bowl

Watched the NY Giants defeat the New England Patriots 21-17 in Super Bowl XLVI on a nice, large plasma TV at the Tapias’ house. Except for the last five minutes it was probably one of the most unexciting, even boring, Super Bowl games I had ever watched. Since the three of us are west coasters …

These bad lip reading videos are getting so dang good. And funny.

Dog’s Eye View

Really fun and creative dog’s eye view video of playing with other canines at a public dog park. Beautiful Day at the Dog Park from Kelsey Wynns on Vimeo.

Chuck Finale

Finally got around to watching the finale to “Chuck.” Having never missed an episode and since it was the series finale, I kept putting it off so in my mind it wouldn’t end. Now that I’ve watched it I think it was a good way to end the show. New beginnings. I am gonna miss …

Viennese Nights: Round Three

Representing steerage class, I worked my third Viennese Nights: A Grand Ball at the Balboa Park Club, an annual event put on by  The San Diego Vintage Dance Society of which my sister Beata and her husband Bill are members. With the almost non-stop preparation of snack trays and drinks, the evening went by very quickly helped along …

Little Tombstone

Well here’s an interesting piece of French animation. I really like the gritty look of the film and the attention to sometimes bizarre details (e.g. the fly in the barrel). Overall I consider this really well done and a pretty cool find. LITTLE TOMBSTONE – ESMA 2011 from Little Tombstone on Vimeo.

The Fantastic Flying Books Of Mr. Morris Lessmore

Absolutely wonderful animated short. The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris Lessmore from Moonbot Studios on Vimeo.

Jiminy Sings Gene

In honor of today’s precipitous weather Walt Disney’s Jiminy Cricket (Cliff Edwards, aka “Ukelele Ike”) and the Wonderland Jazz Band sing the 1952 Gene Kelly classic, “Singin’ In The Rain”: Singin’ In the Rain

Starting With SDNHM

Had a really good day today, which started with a couple of hours spent at the San Diego Natural History Museum. The main reason for my visit was to watch Sharks 3D, the final 3D movie they have that I needed to see. While some of the shots were truly incredible, especially in 3D, most …

A Man Named Candy

It’s no wonder Disney used this guy for voice talent. Different times back then but I still appreciate his abilities. From Walt Disney’s “Peter Pan”: 13 What Made The Red Man Red _ Tinknapped
