Blue Angels At Miramar 2011

Climbed up onto the roof to take telephoto shots of the Blue Angels performing on the first day of the Miramar Air Show. Love seeing them every year, even if it’s from a distance. Ever year our trees get bigger and cover a bit more of the sky. Also hope that by this time next …

Wyatt Earp In San Diego

Attended a lecture presentation at the San Diego History Center in Balboa Park this evening by Garner A. Palenske, author of the just released book (we got the very first copies) “Wyatt Earp In San Diego: Life After Tombstone.” First I ran into him in the bathroom before the lecture and we talked Earp for …

Dinner And An X-Show

Finished off my full Balboa Park day with a stop at Starbucks and a giant, delicious shredded beef chimichanga from Colima’s Mexican Food while watching X-Men: First Class on DVD at the Tapias’ house. I really liked the movie the first time I saw it in the theater and actually liked it even more this …

Ringer

Watched the series premiere of “Ringer” with Sarah Michelle Gellar. Wasn’t expecting to care for it much since it was on the CW network but I knew she would do a very good job with her character. Turns out I thought it was actually pretty good (despite some cheesy fake boating shots). There were so …

Inner Earth

Can’t wait to go see this movie at the San Diego Natural History Museum. Hope the music is as amazing as it is in this trailer.

Making Light Of Something Disturbing

Strong evidence against the United States being the greatest country on Earth.

SeaWorld With Disney

Spent a fun day being tour guide at SeaWorld San Diego to three of my hardcore Disney friends, Denise, Jeff and Disney sculptor, Bruce. Saw more shows and exhibits than I have in a long time. Felt good being touristy again. One mega suckiness: really disappointed that Mama Stella’s took the Eggplant Parmesan off the …

Muppets At D23

As part of the 2011 Disney Legends presentations at this year’s D23 Expo, Jim Henson’s son Brian, along with his wife, Jane, performed a sketch that I’m pretty sure his parents made famous on the Ed Sullivan Show many years ago. So hilarious and it brought back my memories of watching it on television. While …

Final day of D23. Detailed info when I return.

D23 Expo: Day Two

Detailed info when I return. Just know that it was awesome.

D23 Expo: Day One

Drove up to Anaheim with Lannie for the start of our three-day Disney adventure known to Disney fans around the world as the D23 Expo!  Think Comic-Con for Disney geeks. It was an amazing first day, starting with attending the Disney Legends Ceremony, seeing the panel for “It’s A Small World: Celebrating 45 Years,” and …

Gulp

The creative geniuses at Aardman Animation (makers of Wallace and Gromit) have made an amazing and largest (according to Guiness) full-scale stop-motion animation ever.   And here is the “making of” video:

New Games In Google+

Google+ added a new section of online games for a select few members and for some reason they included me. So to thank them I played some Angry Birds, Edgeworld and Crime City. I also unfortunately posted that I played and it ended up in more than a few of my friends’ inboxes.

Pizza And A Fish

Dinner and a movie. Had delicious, home-made pizza at the Tapias while watching the classic “A Fish Called Wanda.” Cleese and Palin are comic treasures.

Outdoor Movie Night For Three

Setup a small outdoor movie theater in the Tapias’ backyard patio complete with hanging chairs, projector and drape-screen to watch the movie “Rio.”  The movie looked fantastic with amazing animation, but at times the main characters seemed flat and uninteresting, had poor dialogue and overall it was pretty predictable. Some of the main characters I thought were also totally …
