Fun With Science

Had a great time playing with science experiments with Rodrigo at the Ruben H. Fleet Science Center in Balboa Park. We also watched the IMAX movie “Hubble” which was stunning, if a little hard to watch at times because of craning our necks to see everything in their domed theater. ( p i c s )

Imagine If They’d Made It About Allah

Part one of three. (Links at the end to continue.) What a great ironic twist to the story. (Really need to see this movie again.)

Colin’s Passing Tweet

Hilarious Father’s Day tweet this morning by the always funny Colin Mochrie.

The Ballad Of John And Jackie

Went over to Mary’s house for a delayed, catered post-wedding party for her mom and new husband after they recently returned from a honeymoon in eastern Europe. Average age of guests: 70ish. Food was great. Sylvia was in charge of the desserts and her perfectionism showed.

A Pretty Fair Day

Went to the San Diego County Fair with Mary and her daughter Diana. Spent a bunch of time with different farm animals, enjoyed some pretty decent music, ate some great food, walked by a multitude of product barkers and checked out some really amazing exhibited photography. ( p i c s )

A Hair Piece

Perform This Way is still one of my favorite songs to listen to these days. You’re watching You’ve Got Weird Al Yankovic. See the Web’s top videos on AOL Video

Super Duper Super 8

Watched a $5 matinee of Super 8 today with the Tapias and absolutely loved it! Totally The Goonies for a new generation. Definitely not for younglings though (rated PG-13) because of some pretty intense scenes and some language, but overall a terribly fun movie to watch. Great performances by the child actors. Stunning visuals and …

Museum of Me

Through the latest This Week In Tech podcast I learned of the Museum of Me website from Intel. I let it connect with my Facebook account and it created a stunning video with music of my Facebook data using my friends, my photos, my links and even my most used words. Really well done. Since …

Border Outlets

Drove with the Tapias down to the Las Americas Premium Outlets by the Mexico border. Stopped at a couple of shoe stores, the Disney Store to talk to an old friend and finally at Starbucks. Then picked up some great, cheap Mexican food at Colima’s to eat while we watched “The Empire Strikes Back.” Just …

X-Men: First Class

Went to see X-Men: First Class with the Tapias. Overall a pretty good and entertaining movie but for me there were a few moments that seemed to drag on a bit. The evolution of, and relationship between, the Professor Xavier and Derek (Magneto) characters I thought was handled very well. Loved the two surprise cameos …

Memorial Day Barbecue And Games

Had a great barbecue lunch with the Tapias for Memorial Day (steaks (which even Lilo and Stitch got to try for the very first time), corn on the cob, baked beans, roasted zucchini and garlic bread) which we then followed by playing Mastermind, Boggle and the card game Kings in the Corner. We also had …

Walburg Fun

Spent the evening with Brenda out at the Biergarten in Walburg, TX. It was mariachi night, but they still had the German oompa house band play a few sets as well.  Had me a tasty wienerschnitzel plate with a good old König Pilsner beer.

Pirates Part Four

Went to see Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides on opening day with Brenda. Fun movie, glad to see Captain Jack, Barbosa and Mr. Gibbs again, but just didn’t like it as much as I enjoyed first three. Wonderful scenery, special effects and piratey stuff, but it felt very disjointed in the beginning and …

Band Campy

Went to Sopahn’s middle school band concert with my mom, Tommy, Alex and Sopahn’s mom, Marvel. They did renditions of Star Wars, the Peter Gunn theme, a mash-up of Queen songs and Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture.

Three For Thor

Went to see Thor with my brother and nephew. Really enjoyed it. Kenneth Branagh did an excellent job making the myths seem believable.
