Dog Walk Around Fiesta Island

Walked around Fiesta Island in Mission Bay with the entire Tapia family, including Lilo and Stitch, on an absolutely gorgeous San Diego day. Followed it up with a good Mexican lunch at a recently opened Roberto’s Taco Shop.

Cinco De Mayo In April

After the Art Walk in the morning, I went back to Old Town to walk around the Cinco de Mayo Fiesta celebration. Saw plenty of very colorful crafts being sold, some well done, others looking like the ones they sell at the border crossing in Tijuana. Got to meet 22-year old Sonya Quiroz, the first …

Art Walk In Little Italy

Took the trolley from Old Town and met Sylvia and Rodrigo in the Little Italy district of downtown San Diego for this year’s Art Walk. Talked to an artist acquaintance of ours (Scott Palmer) and met two new ones (Christopher M. and Pete Tillack), both of whose work we really liked. (pics blah blah blah…)

Does Eli Know He’s Black?

Watched “The Book of Eli” over at the Tapias’ house. Been wanting to watch that movie for a while and the it did not disappoint. Really good twist at the end. Mila Kunis is a doll.

Gaga No, Yankovic Yes

I am not a Lady Gaga fan, but I am a big Weird Al Yankovic fan, and I really like this new song parody of her.

Fun Learning Game

Played an online game developed for the San Diego Zoo Safari Park. Impressed at how much effort went into making this game interactive and fun. Plus it just looks really good.

NASSCO Ship Launch

Went down to Tidelands Park on Coronado to meet Sylvia and Rodrigo for dinner and watch the USNS William McLean‘s launch with fireworks from the NASSCO shipyards.

Tangled Soundtrack Is Finally Mine

Purchased the Tangled soundtrack from iTunes instead of Amazon because of the higher sound quality and the digital songbook which turned out to be pretty cool.

Questionable Advertising

Bizarre way to advertise an attraction. Makes you just want to rush out and visit.

Adder, Fry and Laurie

Nothing of major interest today, so I give you a clip of Black Adder featuring Hugh Laurie and Stephen Fry.

Got My Punch Suckered

Went and saw Sucker Punch with my brother and nephew. Absolutely loved it, which completely surprised me. Wasn’t expecting it to be so well done. Visually stunning movie. Violent and titillating, but not gory or vulgar. Cinematography was masterful.

Tour By Seal

Also took the Seal Tour of San Diego which takes you on a drive along the bay and then into the bay itself, all on an amphibious bus. It was refreshing to see San Diego from a perspective I’m not used to, although the sites aren’t exactly touristy type spots. It was interesting to see …

Old Town Trolley Tour

Finally, after thirty one years of living here, I took the Old Town Trolley Tour of San Diego. Some of the info was new, but the sights were all ones I’ve seen before. Good, if stunted, introduction to San Diego for out-of-towners.

Dinner And A Movie

Picked up Chinese food and drove down to the Tapias with my brother and nephew to watch “Tangled,” which came out on DVD today. Also had some home-made churros.

Battle: LA

Went to see Battle: Los Angeles this evening with the Tapias. We were the only ones in the theater. Turned out to be better than I was expecting. Thought the effects would be the only cool parts of the movie but the acting, story and dialogue were surprisingly well done. (Photos courtesy of Rodrigo and …
