Koalapalooza Tweet-Up At The Zoo

Spent a drizzly morning at the San Diego Zoo for a group tweet-up of 34 people. As they are celebrating Koalapalooza we learned about Kookaburras, Wombats, Red Tree Kangaroos, Echidnas and of course, Koalas.

Hummingbird Feeding

Added to and reinforced the plastic shield around the the Hummingbird nest to protect it from tonight’s rain storm and took pictures of it feeding it’s one remaining chick.

Second Hummingbird Hatchling

The second Hummingbird egg hatched overnight. Still waiting to decide if the first one (on the right) is deceased.

Finally Back At SeaWorld Again

First time walking around SeaWorld with my mom since the beginning of January. Ran into some acquaintances and saw some new non-aquatic animals in the old Clydesdale barn.

Hummingbird Rescue

Saved a completely drenched Hummingbird and its nest, unfortunately losing a chick in the process.

I Used Protection

Fastened up some plastic over the Hummingbird nest in preparation for the rainstorms we’re supposed to get this week.

Thought I’d Try Something New, So Today I Went To The Zoo

Spent over two hours with Adhama, the hippo calf, before meeting up with the Holdens for lunch.

Zoom Retry

Decided to try and see if my old telephoto lens, while still messed up from being dropped into a pool, would still be able to take decent photos. I had to work with the final shots in Photoshop a bit, but overall I wasn’t too displeased.

Final Day Of Some Good Ol’ Animalizing

Last day of taking care of the neighbors’ canines and felines. Saved the best shots for last.

Day/Night Two Of Animal Keeping

Second day of watching the neighbor’s dogs, cats and house.

Back At The Neighbor Zoo

Start of another weekend of house/dog/cat-sitting for the neighbors while they enjoy the Superbowl weekend at Disneyland. Day/night one.

New View Of Hummingbird Nest

While the Hummingbird was still in the nest, she let me tie the plant branches to protect it from the wind. Then while she flew off I took some more pictures of the two eggs.

Hippo Replacement

For my milestone 500th blog post, I took my mom to see the baby hippo, now six days old, at the San Diego Zoo. Got extremely lucky that Funani, the mother, decided to move out of the water  and onto the dirt. That gave everyone who waited a chance to clearly see the calf.

Hummingbird Eggs In The Morning

There are at least two eggs in the Hummingbird nest outside my bathroom window. Can’t wait to see the hatched chicks. I’ve never seen baby Hummingbirds.

Walking Dogs And Then Chicken

Had a great walk with Rodrigo, Sylvia, Stitch and Lilo at Fiesta Island on yet another beautiful San Diego day. Then went to Chick-fil-A by the Sports Arena for a very tasty lunch. Only downside was that “Disney on Ice” let out just as we were finishing our meal.
