Palacsinta And Beans

Had dinner over at my brother Ozzie’s house with my niece Kimi, my mom and my sister Beata. We had green beans and ham followed by palacsinta (Hungarian crepes). It was supposed to be a belated birthday dinner for my nephew, Stephen, but he had not returned from his San Francisco trip in time. After …

Dinner And Slides

After spending the day at the Zoo, I lead the Rossmans down to Chula Vista where we had dinner at the Tapias’ house. Sylvia and Alex also made cookies and brownies. After dinner, and while having the baked desserts, we all watched the photos that Alex, Cathy and I took during the day as well …

Special Zoo Visit With A Personal Presentation

Was at the San Diego Zoo for most of the day with Fabi, Stephanie, Alex, Cathy and Nathan. The visit was made all the more special when my friend Rick, the Zoo’s Ambassador, took us to a backstage presentation area and gave us a personal educational show with Priscilla, the fifteen-year old porcupine. We even …

Starbucks With Mami

Took my mom for some coffee and lemon loaf at a nearby Starbucks. Also wanted to pick up the first free, weekly iPhone App that they were giving away. I heard it was the “Shazam” app for figuring out what song you might be hearing somewhere.  Good news is they still had cards for the app. Bad …

Birthday Party For My Mother’s Son’s Sister’s Husband’s Daughter

Family got together to belatedly celebrate Aidan’s birthday at Ozzie’s house. Jeri and Stephen were once again in charge of the food and settings. After dinner and cake we played a few hands of “Apples to Apples.” Just as the first time I played, I sucked. But it was fun.

Goodbye Breakfast With Barbara

Had a Denny’s-provided all-American breakfast with Barbara and my mom before Barbara departed for her return trip to Los Angeles and its +100º valley temperature. Almost feel guilty for us only reaching 80º here in coastal San Diego.

Dinner And A Song In Old Town

Had a really nice dinner with my visiting friend, Barbara, and my mom in Old Town this evening. We ate at the Alamo Mexican Café and were serenaded by an Asian playing the accordion across the street.

Two Walks And A Dinner

After an all-too-brief walk along Spanish Landing with the Tapias, and a quick pick-up order from Phil’s BBQ, I re-met the Tapias, this time with Rodrigo’s sister Lorena along for the ride after being picked up from the airport, at Rose Marie Starns Park and Boat Ramp in Mission Bay for a breezy dinner of …

Photowalk With Heather

Had a really good, silly and sarcastic time with Heather today, walking around taking pictures in Old Town San Diego and having a great Mexican lunch at Café Coyote.  Even ran into another friend of mine, Terry, who I occasionally work with. Heather and I took pictures of anything that caught our eye and looked interesting, although I’m pretty …

Great Eyetalian Food

Had an excellent and filling dinner tonight at The Old Spaghetti Factory in downtown San Diego with the Tapias, the Holdens and John and Jackie, who treated us as a thank-you for helping with their wedding reception. There was some kind of hip-hop “music” party next door at the Hard Rock Café that drew a …

Pizza And A Fish

Dinner and a movie. Had delicious, home-made pizza at the Tapias while watching the classic “A Fish Called Wanda.” Cleese and Palin are comic treasures.

New Tastes With Flavor

My old friend and client, Harriet, got the old work gang back together for lunch after a few year hiatus. She chose a newer restaurant in Del Mar called Flavor and the food was excellent. We started with freshly baked bread with warm butter and four different flavored salts followed by an appetizer of Grilled …

Jeri’s Surprise

Spent a little over an hour with my sister Beata setting up decorations for a surprise birthday dinner for Jeri after she and my nephew Stephen returned from their trip to Catalina Island. We had really good burritos and tacos from Chipotle that my brother Ozzie had picked up  followed by some delicious chocolate cake …

What’s An Oxnard: Day Two

Much merriment was had today starting with an excellent breakfast at the resort, followed by tennis playing, kite flying, bocce balling and walks along the beach. There was some Starbucks and donuts thrown in there somewhere for good measure. ( p i c s )

Ozzie Makes Dinner

My brother, Ozzie, made and invited us to dinner tonight. He made his own version of Hungarian Gulyás (meat stew) with dumplings which turned out tasting pretty good.
