Dead Drive

After a trip to the Apple Store Genius Bar to confirm my fears, I spent about an hour replacing the hard drive in my mom’s old eMac (yes, eMac) only to have the computer not recognize it. Need to take it out back.

From My Cranial Collection

Since nothing out of the ordinary happened today, I present a sample from my collection of skulls. This one is obviously from a creature of the night and has an “A” stamped into its forehead. I hope it’s not Angel’s.

Supermoon For 600

My 600th blogpost. We had a Supermoon tonight, which is a full or new moon that coincides with a close approach by the Moon to the Earth. I tried to get some photos but the cloudy night wasn’t cooperating. During one rare break in the clouds, this is the best I could get with a little help …

Asian Radiation

Apparently we are to be visited today by some very-diluted radiation from one of Japan’s dying nuclear reactors.

Magic And Neuroscience

Fascinating Scientific American segment on neuroscientists studying a magician’s misdirection and slight of hand.

Extreme Bipolarism

Since nothing of great import happened to me today, I give you “terrified baby laughing.”

I think my ship has finally come in. And just …

And On The Same Day…

A new daily record for the number of spam hits on my blog. Coincidence? This time there wasn’t even an attempt to mask them. All 9 are completely unintelligible. UPDATE: Since posting this I was hit with 40 more for a total of 49 spams today. Changed the comments settings to try and stop it.

The Average Person

Fascinating National Geographic video about what the average person looks like. For now.

Apple’s iPad2 Event

Watched live blogging on Macworld, Engadget and TWIT Live of today’s Apple event introducing the iPad 2. Great to see SJ make a surprise appearance to MC the event. Would have loved the first iPad, but so glad now I didn’t get one.

Marching In With New Calendars

Celebrating a new month with the “Anticipatingly Turning Over Of The Last Month And With Great Arousal Revealing The New Month” ritual blood-letting and celebration.

Frozen Rain That Froze Again

Woke up to hail that refroze after last night’s freezing rain storm.

Redneck Heater

Set up a make-shift heater for the Hummingbirds because of the cold temperatures we’re expecting tonight. Bathroom door closed, fan on a chair, blowing the warm air out the open window with an extension cord running out to the kitchen so the light doesn’t have to be on to run the fan. I shouldn’t work …

Male Restroom Etiquette

This gets taken a direction I did not expect. (Thanks to a tweet by Stephen Fry.)
