Visiting Clawed, Feathered And Hairy Cousins And Relatives

Had a really good photo day at the San Diego Zoo with Mary and Diana. Got some fantastically lucky shots of Funani the Hippo and her recently born son Adhama. Also had the best meal ever at the Zoo at Albert’s Restaurant, contrasting with the worst the last time I visited. Ran into an old …

First Online Video

Posted my very first video online and I made sure it was all over the web. Posting it here, obviously, on Facebook and on Twitter. It’s of the Cheetah Run we saw at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park Tweetup we had last Saturday. Now I just need to work on my photos.

Fun With Science

Had a great time playing with science experiments with Rodrigo at the Ruben H. Fleet Science Center in Balboa Park. We also watched the IMAX movie “Hubble” which was stunning, if a little hard to watch at times because of craning our necks to see everything in their domed theater. ( p i c s )

Run Cheetah Run!

Had a fantastic tweetup at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park. Got VIP treatment for a a practice run of the new Cheetah Run exhibit that will open to the lesser people (general public) on July 2.  Also got to see an eight day-old Western Lowland Gorilla being carried by it’s mom, as well as …

Newness At SeaWorld

Walked around SeaWorld San Diego with my mom today. Saw a bunch of new stuff like two young Red Kangaroos (got to pet one named Elle for Elle MacPherson), an Owl Monkey whose name I forgot, a Pygmy Hedgehog named Hodgepodge that I also got to pet, got to hold a Decorator Crab, saw two …

Zoo Day With Kimi (Post #800!)

Spent a few fun-filled hours at the world famous San Diego Zoo today with my favorite niece, Kimi. Took bunches of photos of her with various animals (even petting a few) and had a really awful lunch. We both strongly felt like we were going to see somebody famous there and we amazingly ended up …

Zoo Day With Mary

Walked around and had lunch at the San Diego Zoo with Mary and her daughter Diana. Spent the first hour by myself listening to my iPod and taking pictures of all the two-week old and one three-day old flamingo chicks. ( p i c s )

Walking Along Spanish Landing

Went for another impromptu San Diego walk with the Tapias. This time we met at and walked the Spanish Landing along the bay across from the airport. ( p i c s )

Another New Trail With The Tapias

Walked about two miles on a trail in South Bay with Sylvia, Rodrigo and the doggies. This trail was just south of the 54 and just north of the KOA campgrounds. Passed some colorfully tagged freeway support columns.  Walked towards Plaza Bonita and back. ( p i c s )

Border Outlets

Drove with the Tapias down to the Las Americas Premium Outlets by the Mexico border. Stopped at a couple of shoe stores, the Disney Store to talk to an old friend and finally at Starbucks. Then picked up some great, cheap Mexican food at Colima’s to eat while we watched “The Empire Strikes Back.” Just …

Walk Along Coronado Homes

Went for a three-mile evening walk with the Tapias in Coronado. First we walked along the shoreline but then we moved into the residential areas to check out some of the expensive, beautiful homes. ( p i c s )

Walk Along Old SeaWorld Drive

The Tapias picked me up so we could go walking along Old SeaWorld Drive and out to the Marina jetty. By far the weirdest, if not creepiest, moment was toward the end of the jetty when we walked passed at least thirty feral cats of all colors, all staring at us and not making a …

Memorial Day Walk With The Tapias

After dinner and games, we drove to Rice Canyon in east Chula Vista to go on a three+ mile walk through the canyon and some neighborhoods. Perfect outdoor walking day. Great way to burn off some of those calories we put on from lunch. (There are photos to prove we did this.)

Ron’s Final Visit In May

My high school buddy Ron flew into town this afternoon. Picked him up from his hotel and took him to Coronado for dinner at Miguel’s Cocina. Then we toured the Hotel Del Coronado (his first time there) including the lower level shops and walked the sidewalk along the beach (watching two F-18s come in for landings), went …
