Already Walking

After driving for about nine hours and almost 700 miles, I decided to meet Sylvia, Rodrigo and the doggies for a greatly refreshing 3-mile walk at Mission Bay, just east of SeaWorld. Yeah, it’s good to be back.

Out To Sea The World

Spent a few hours at SeaWorld San Diego, first on my own, then with Mary and her daughter Diana. A large section towards the back was completely closed off to the public because they started construction on the new Manta roller coaster. (pics…)

Ron’s Visit

After catching up with my buddy Ron at the airport (he’s a pilot for American and arrived this afternoon), I picked him up from the Harbor Sheraton, took him to Coronado for dinner at Lil’ Piggy’s BBQ (had a groupon voucher), and then walked along the Old Ferry Landing before taking him back. We reminisced …

Tourist In My Own Town

Spent a couple of hours this afternoon walking along the Embarcadero here in San Diego before meeting up with my high school buddy Ron. Went from the County Admin building down to Seaport Village and back, stopping at a few places to capture some images, empty my bladder (yes, Lisa, more pee) and remove a …

Dog Walk Around Fiesta Island

Walked around Fiesta Island in Mission Bay with the entire Tapia family, including Lilo and Stitch, on an absolutely gorgeous San Diego day. Followed it up with a good Mexican lunch at a recently opened Roberto’s Taco Shop.

Cinco De Mayo In April

After the Art Walk in the morning, I went back to Old Town to walk around the Cinco de Mayo Fiesta celebration. Saw plenty of very colorful crafts being sold, some well done, others looking like the ones they sell at the border crossing in Tijuana. Got to meet 22-year old Sonya Quiroz, the first …

Art Walk In Little Italy

Took the trolley from Old Town and met Sylvia and Rodrigo in the Little Italy district of downtown San Diego for this year’s Art Walk. Talked to an artist acquaintance of ours (Scott Palmer) and met two new ones (Christopher M. and Pete Tillack), both of whose work we really liked. (pics blah blah blah…)

Naturally Historic Visit To A San Diego Museum

After my Zoo visit I walked over to the Natural History Museum and spent a couple of hours there taking pictures and actually learning something. For example, did you know that Sun Chips have 30% less fat than regular chips? I got hungry. (pics…)

Alone Time With The Animals

Spent a couple of hours at the San Diego Zoo, walking around by myself, listening to to my iPod and taking pictures. Very relaxing. I focused my shots on primates, especially their feet and hands. (pics to come)

Back To The Butterflies

Spent a few hours at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park with the Holden family. Went to walk around in general, but to see the Butterfly Jungle exhibit in particular. Bought me a bright yellow SpongeBob t-shirt first. Butterflies loved it. (pics to come)

Fun Learning Game

Played an online game developed for the San Diego Zoo Safari Park. Impressed at how much effort went into making this game interactive and fun. Plus it just looks really good.

Beautiful Hooded Oriole

While shooting photos of a family of seven squirrels in the backyard today, this amazingly colorful bird landed on one of our plumeria plants. After searching online to try and identify it, I finally found a site that helped me identify it as a male Hooded Oriole.

Walk At Seaport Village

Met Sylvia down at Seaport Village on this cloudy day and we had a nice walk with the dogs. Even stopped for a couple of cookies.

NASSCO Ship Launch

Went down to Tidelands Park on Coronado to meet Sylvia and Rodrigo for dinner and watch the USNS William McLean‘s launch with fireworks from the NASSCO shipyards.

First Ever Tweet-Up At The Safari Park

Went to the San Diego Zoo Safari Park with my mom for their first ever Tweet-up. Today’s theme was Butterfly Jungle. I bought a nice purple Looney Toons t-shirt with nine colorful character faces yesterday just for this occasion. My mom wore an old yellow shirt with my nephew’s picture on it. She had at …
