Full Moon Morning

A bit late in the morning for a clean shot, but I got this just before the Moon disappeared behind Mt. Soledad. I could feel the pull against my own howling tides.

GeekBeat Meetup With Cali Lewis

Finally got to meet Cali Lewis (Luria Petrucci) in person at a GeekBeat organized meetup at T.G.I. Friday’s in downtown San Diego. I got there an hour early and boy was I the first one there for a long time.  First thing I did when she walked up was get my picture with her.  Didn’t get to talk to her as much as I would have liked since she needed to interact and chat with all ten guests at three tables, but hey…I finally got to meet Cali Lewis.

Guided Tour In Balboa Park

Went for an hour-long free guided walking tour in Balboa Park this morning with my mom. Ranger Ryan took us to a few spots and talked to us about the architectural and floral history dating back to the very early days of what was first called City Park before the 1915 Panama-California Exposition.

Web deW

It was really foggy this morning and once the sun started coming out it left everything damp and moist including a couple of magnificently large orb-weaving spider webs. What was completely unexpected to me was the refracted purple and green colors inside some of the drops. There are no spiders in these shots.

Pleasing The Larvae

Since all of our milkweed plants had been completely gleaned of juicy, milk-filled leaves by the few remaining Monarch larvae we have, we bought a few more plants to get them bulked up enough for their upcoming pupation phase. They appeared very grateful.

Fall Decorating At The Tapias

Went along with Sylvia for her fall decor shopping at Michael’s (where the line was way too long to wait in) and Target where she picked up a really cool giant plastic pre-carved jack-o-lantern which was placed on top of their front lamppost. We spent the afternoon decorating their front entryway before stopping to relax at a nearby Starbucks.

Party For José

Went to a family party at José’s house to celebrate his quick recovery after brain surgery. Even family from out of town showed up for this one. We had fantastic chili, corn bread and dump cake, all home-made by the Tapias.

Walk And Dinner On Coronado

Went for an evening walk with the Tapias from Coronado’s Tidelands Park up to the Old Ferry Landing where we had dinner at Lil’ Piggy’s Bar-B-Q and then walked back to Tidelands Park. I had an incredible Texas Potato with pulled pork and other fixings for my dinner.

At Heather’s Day Seven: Numbers

Today I tasked myself with taking macro shots of everyday items around the house or garage that showed numbers. I was amazed at how many examples I found. There were even things that were similar enough to each other that I felt I could ignore.

Starbucks Run

Went on a quick Starbucks run with Rodrigo to get my tall decaf caramel macchiato with extra caramel and to pick up this week’s iTunes song pick of the week as well as the app of the week. They had no app cards and the song, “Bittersweet Melodies” by Feist, turned out to be a dud. At least the coffee and company were good.

Short Video Chat A La Brenda

Noticed my friend Brenda was available on gmail, took a chance on video chat calling her and it paid off with a brief but enjoyable call where we could see each other from 1,300 miles away. The neck brace was just to help her posture while on the computer. Made me sit up straighter.

At Heather’s Day Six: Textures

Today’s self-appointed assignment was to capture textures, inside and out, natural and man-made, all macro. I’ve already forgotten what a couple of them were of.

Bulk Shopping With Sylvia

Went to Costco with Sylvia and enjoyed me some garlic and artichoke as well as avocado and something else flavored hummus on pita chips, a California sushi roll with imitation crab and some Hormel Old Smokehouse thick sliced bacon. Oh, and they already had Christmas decorations for sale.
