X-Men: First Class

Went to see X-Men: First Class with the Tapias. Overall a pretty good and entertaining movie but for me there were a few moments that seemed to drag on a bit. The evolution of, and relationship between, the Professor Xavier and Derek (Magneto) characters I thought was handled very well. Loved the two surprise cameos but was disappointed that there wasn’t any surprise after the credits. The big action scenes were very well done and the special effects were of course flawless. There also seemed to be a lot of attractive women in skivvies in this movie. Those parts didn’t drag.

House Of VS Day Three: Lauren’s Watching

No matter where I go, she’s watching me.

Walk Along Old SeaWorld Drive

The Tapias picked me up so we could go walking along Old SeaWorld Drive and out to the Marina jetty. By far the weirdest, if not creepiest, moment was toward the end of the jetty when we walked passed at least thirty feral cats of all colors, all staring at us and not making a sound. Stopped and picked up some Phil’s BBQ on the way home.

House Of VS Day Two: The Garden

Spent the morning taking shots of Heather’s plants, flowers and figures.

Sweetwater Walk

Went walking with the Tapias from Pepper Park in National City, east along the Sweetwater River adjacent to Hwy 54 and then back again for a three mile journey. Ended up going to In-N-Out afterwards to replace the calories we burned. Gotta love the Double-Double, animal style.

House Of VS Day One: Housemates

Some of the interesting friends I will be sharing a house with for the next few days.

VidChat With Brenda

Enjoyed a nice evening video chat with Brenda. First one since I came back from visiting her in Austin. Thank you Google for letting me talk to and see her for free from three states away.

Day Of Change

Time to change all 22 of my calendars from May to June!

Phoebe Chicks

Was finally able to get a couple of shots of our Phoebe chicks today. Only stayed for about half a minute because both parents, being incredibly attentive, were getting nervous with me around.

Foodspotting Surge

Finally finished adding all the meal photos from my recent trip to Arizona, New Mexico and Texas as well as other dinners of late to my Foodspotting website and I surged up to 88 spottings. I will probably die with food in my mouth.

Memorial Day Walk With The Tapias

After dinner and games, we drove to Rice Canyon in east Chula Vista to go on a three+ mile walk through the canyon and some neighborhoods. Perfect outdoor walking day. Great way to burn off some of those calories we put on from lunch.

(There are photos to prove we did this.)

Memorial Day Barbecue And Games

Had a great barbecue lunch with the Tapias for Memorial Day (steaks (which even Lilo and Stitch got to try for the very first time), corn on the cob, baked beans, roasted zucchini and garlic bread) which we then followed by playing Mastermind, Boggle and the card game Kings in the Corner. We also had a little alcohol.

Ron’s Final Visit In May

My high school buddy Ron flew into town this afternoon. Picked him up from his hotel and took him to Coronado for dinner at Miguel’s Cocina. Then we toured the Hotel Del Coronado (his first time there) including the lower level shops and walked the sidewalk along the beach (watching two F-18s come in for landings), went as far as the Naval Base and then walked back. Sounds more romantic than it was.

To The Dogs

Had fun watching Lilo and Stitch for a few hours today while Sylvia and Rodrigo were visiting relatives in the O.C.

Martin Luther King Via The Embarcadero

Had a really nice evening walk with all four Tapias north from Joe’s Crab Shack by the Convention Center, through Seaport Village along the Embarcadero, up passed the USS Midway Museum to Broadway, towards downtown to the start of the Martin Luther King Promenade walking trail, passed Kansas City BBQ where a scene from “Top Gun” was shot, down Harbor Drive across the street along the front side of the Convention Center, stopped for a fantastic dinner at the Tin Fish (so sorry again, Lisa), then crossed back over Harbor Drive on the newly finished pedestrian bridge by Petco Park where the Padres play home games, back up towards Joe’s Crab Shack, around the Embarcadero Marina Park South and finally back to the car. Great way to explore some more of downtown San Diego.
