Solemn Remembrance
Today in 1865, John Wilkes Booth shoots Abraham Lincoln in the back of the head. Lincoln dies the next day. Today in 1912, The RMS Titanic strikes an iceberg on her maiden voyage. She sinks the following morning. I have a few books on both of these events and will toast this evening in honor of those who were to be lost.

Exceptionally Important Date In History

Sumter, cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin became the first human to orbit our planet in 1961, in 1945 Franklin D. Roosevelt died in office, The Space Shuttle Columbia lifted off in 1981 on the very first Shuttle mission, Disneyland Paris opens (under the name Euro Disney Resort) in 1992, and Tiny Tim is born in 1932 to questioningly tiptoe through our auditory tulips.
