Family And Friend Day At The Zoo

Spent a few hours at the San Diego Zoo with my brother Tommy, my nephew Alex, Sylvia with Deaglan and Mary with Diana.

Got My Punch Suckered

Went and saw Sucker Punch with my brother and nephew. Absolutely loved it, which completely surprised me. Wasn’t expecting it to be so well done. Visually stunning movie. Violent and titillating, but not gory or vulgar. Cinematography was masterful.

Tour By Seal

Also took the Seal Tour of San Diego which takes you on a drive along the bay and then into the bay itself, all on an amphibious bus. It was refreshing to see San Diego from a perspective I’m not used to, although the sites aren’t exactly touristy type spots. It was interesting to see wild Sea Lions up close as opposed to those I’m used to at SeaWorld.

Old Town Trolley Tour

Finally, after thirty one years of living here, I took the Old Town Trolley Tour of San Diego. Some of the info was new, but the sights were all ones I’ve seen before. Good, if stunted, introduction to San Diego for out-of-towners.

Tour d’UCSD

Met Kimi up at UCSD with my mom, brother and nephew. Walked around campus for about an hour. Drove her back to her car which was parked over five miles away.

Dinner And A Movie

Picked up Chinese food and drove down to the Tapias with my brother and nephew to watch “Tangled,” which came out on DVD today. Also had some home-made churros.

A Bit Of Pacific Phun

Drove over to La Jolla Shores with my brother and nephew. Took some shots from inside the surf. Stopped at Starbucks on the way home.

Dinner And An Enzo

Had dinner with most of the family, including the newest member, Enzo, a Maltese/Pekinese mix puppy that belongs to my nephew, Stephen.

My Mom’s Mac Mini

Got my mom’s new Mac up and running in no time, which, with Migration Assistant, couldn’t have been easier to copy over her files, apps and settings from her old computer, thanks to Apple’s Time Machine. A brand new computer, but exactly how she remembered everything being.

Lunch With Family In Old Town

After a morning spent shopping, I had lunch with my mom, brother and nephew at Casa de Reyes in Old Town. May just be the best tacos in town. The waitress was as Mexican as Betty White, which kind of took away from the authenticity.

Computer, Clothing And Cleats

Left the comfort of my cozy castle to pick up a Mac Mini for my mom, t-shirts for my nephew, work shirts for my brother, coffees for us all, and soccer cleats, also for my nephew. All before lunch.

Bigboote and Littleboote Arrive

My brother and nephew arrived late on a drive down from Vegas. They will be in town for almost a week. I may have to don my Captain Tour Guide outfit once more. Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in.

Bistro City

Tried a new Chinese restaurant called Bistro City in National City after strong recommendations from both Tapias. It did not disappoint. Susan, the co-owner with her husband, greeted the Tapias like old friends and even had printed their Yelp review and posted it by their cash register.

Computer Challenged, Part Three

Took a Mac Mini apart to replace the hard drive only to find that it has a 2.5″ laptop drive. No matter how hard I hit it with a hammer, my extra 3.5″ desktop drive wouldn’t fit. Plus, I couldn’t install Leopard on it because it’s DVD drive isn’t working, but has an external DVD drive plugged in. Trouble is the Mac won’t boot from an external drive. Whoever said “If it’s not one thing, it’s another” needs an award. I even video chatted with Rodrigo to give him a laugh. As “Mutant Enemy” says, “Grr. Argh.”

Alligator Closeup

Did some gardening in the backyard this afternoon to get my fingers dirty, and this guy moseyed on by to say hello.
